Vehicle Description

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback – Shelby-Inspired Performance Build

This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback began life as an A-Code 289 V8 built at Ford’s San Jose factory alongside the very cars that would become Shelby Americans. With a brand new Ford 302 engine installed in 2008 and numerous chassis and suspension upgrades, this well-sorted Mustang has proven its capabilities on events.

Engine & Performance

  • Brand new Ford 302 V8 built by Mustang Ranch (2009)
  • Ford Motorsport World Class T-5 5-speed transmission
  • 9″ rear axle with station wagon drum brakes
  • Fixed 4-piston front brake calipers
  • 6500 rpm redline with smooth power delivery
  • Genuine Ford export brace and Monte Carlo bar

Exterior & Styling

  • Iconic Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue stripes
  • Correct variable-dimension stripes per Tony D. Branda
  • R-model fiberglass front valence (Shelby competition style)
  • 15″ American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels
  • BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires
  • Authentic 1965 Shelby styling without side scoops

Chassis & Handling

  • Global West tubular front control arms
  • Eibach progressive front coil springs
  • Koni shocks at all four corners
  • Seam and stitch welding of factory underbody seams
  • Reinforced Global West tubular subframe connectors
  • Enhanced chassis rigidity with period-correct appearance

Interior & Features

  • Mostly stock interior in very good condition
  • Correct buckets with folding rear seat
  • Crack-free dash above original 1965 sweep speedo
  • Auto-Meter tachometer and Stewart Warner gauges
  • Wood-rimmed LeCarra steering wheel
  • Hurst shifter with 5-speed pattern ball

Original San Jose car that has remained in California its entire life, always registered on the same EKS426 black plates. Originally an A-Code 289/automatic car that has been thoughtfully upgraded while maintaining period-correct Shelby aesthetics. The chassis features extensive reinforcement for improved handling without compromising the classic appearance. A well-sorted, proven performance fastback that combines modern reliability with authentic 1965 Shelby styling.
